It is not that easy fortunately. The fact is that in the office of 15 other adjusters I had worked in with combined experience of well over 100 years, the case I handled was the first of it's kind.

Doesnt bother me as rear bumper is at windscreen high. 4" square stainless steel bar welded on to 2 steel posts attached to chassis is a good off putter. also my motorhome weighs 3 tons best of luck when their one ton car ever hits me as their crumple zone will be under my bumper intact and windscreen and roof will take impact. brutul i know but i drove under a hummer and lived. my own fault but witnesses said excellent car control and hummer driver was being an idiot. learned alot from that experince. now drive with hugh nargin of road between me and vehicle in front even when i borrow the wifes 3.0 200+ hp subaru legacy. now when you brake heavy in her car seat belt locks and leaves a mark across chest so is more than capable of out braking nearly everything on road. found out about seatbelt msrk after braking for a deer which leapt out from side of road in tall grass. that got heart racing.

I'm away from home. But before that I must have said something really, really awful but it's all gone now and I don't remember what it was.

Now, as soon as they see the Ecomodder.com decal on the back of Turtle, which is visible from a long way off, they are learning to do the same thing. Even on I-4 they're going around me from way back, even though I drive the speed limit on the highway.
^That is awesome and how it should be. Reminds me of the original post I bumped this thread with...All the "Autobahn passers" who pass you at the very last second. I feel like welding a metal rod to my bumper that sticks out a foot or two on the left rear corner! Pass like a jackass and your car will get the rod! But that would be dangerous and detrimental to aero :]

You must live in a cool part of the world. Here in CA, everyone thinks they are stunt driving for Hollywood, passing me at the last second, clipping my left rear while clipping innocent bystander#2's front right just to shave a few seconds off their commute.

They only remedy I can think of is seeing said stuntdriver speed up to me in the slow lane at 80 mph, and putting on my brakes just enough so the brake lights come on, and signal as if I am going where they are planning to go.

I really want a rear dashcam. Am I able to turn people in that do this? Obviously all efforts to turn someone in would only be for the extreme cases. Like the jackass BMW driver who must have hit 1G force with each turn of the wheel while passing me, and cutting off the other just to get ahead.

.

I dislike tailgaters too. It also sucks when no one will give you a break when you need to merge.

This guy has it figured out. I like his style...

Probably works for tailgaters also...

Well i was doing 60 in 60 zone going uphill with a blind crest and lots of on coming traffic on a road notourious for deer and livestock wandering all over it. When you can see the colour of his eye balls in rear view its too close for comfort. 3 months ago i spent 2 hrs trying to save the life of a padestrain than had been hit and driver ****ed off. If you have ever seen a human body dragged down the road underneath a car you would view this driving differently. When traffic police turned up to take over i got hand shake and huge praise for not leaving him by himself. It was one of worsed accidents the officers had a attended in 30 years. Now have to visit doctor once a month for signs of ptsd. I dont want to be involved in another sadistic for accidents. My wife wants me home every night after work not visiting hospital.

I'm glad to see this thread bumped recently. It's been interesting to read everyone's take on tailgaters.

I've considered buying (or making) one of these light-up signs for my '67 Beetle, but haven't gotten around to it yet:

Thankfully, people in my area are pretty well-behaved overall.

OK. I've read through the last two pages of you guys arguing about whether the lead driver can be held at fault for slowing down in order to 'teach the taligater a lesson'. Why do you even need to slow down? I just keep driving at the speed I want to, I don't bother trying to get anyone off my tail. I don't like tailgaters but I'm not out to get 'em either. They'll pass, eventually.
