The fender flares are already increasing the frontal area, so making the rest of the sides flush with the wheels would likely help lower the drag.
Narrowing the rear wheel track would allow for a plan taper, which would obviously lower drag.

Which came first, the increase in track or the increase in body width?
I suspect the difference in frontal area is less significant than the disrupted airflow behind the arches.
