Just A Car Guy: if you've ever wondered what Bullitt would look like if it had been made in France

Edit, from the link:
Quote:
It is also the only car with four distinct coolant circuits (engine, electric motors, batteries, and turbo intercooler), three separate voltage systems (12, 24, and 36), and 16 radiators...A total of 47 microprocessors must report for work to make the Precept roll down the road.
Another Torchinsky quote:
Quote:
Cancelled car projects are sort of like the Ark of the Covenant — they make a huge initial impression, melt a few faces, and end up in some dusty warehouse, almost totally forgotten.

I don't know if it's aerodynamic, but it looks like they gave it their best shot.
The windshield would have destroyed the flow over the car,and the fenders would have destroyed the flow on the sides.

If one made it's way to the Bonneville Salt Flats the windshield and fenders would be gone, along with the headlights.

Maybe channeled the depth of the frame rails?

Pike's Peak in June — going up the country, say what you want I'm gone.

https://jalopnik.com/volkswagen-says...-is-1825454042

An interesting external duct for the air curtain. Note also running boards are back.

Current best practice is for a flat floor with five bodies; four wheel pontoons and a passenger/drivetrain bubble.

In fact, early researchers reported that the aerodynamic drag of those early heat exchanger installations could be as much as 8-10% of the net power produced by the engine.

These days of course we are a lot more enlightened, and the realisation that the position of the radiator and how it is installed – and not just its overall size and thickness – can make a great difference to a vehicle’s overall performance. That means carefully ducting just enough cooling air into and through the radiator core with the minimum of aerodynamic losses, something that few vehicle modifiers or special builders fully understand or manage.

Notes about Matra Murena aerodynamics

Quote:
As we know, drag of the Murena body is quite low, with Cd values around 0.31 being quoted. This is comparable to cars like Porsche 924 (same Cd value) and Renault Fuego (Cd = 0.34 - 0.37) [See Katz appendix 1, pp 298,299]. Don't forget that Cd is a cooefficient - the actual resistance factor is multiplied by the frontal area.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matra_Murena
Quote:
The Matra Murena is a mid-engined, rear wheel drive sports car that was produced from 1980 through 1983 by the French engineering group Matra..................

Even though it used a chassis very similar in principle to the Bagheera and the same basic body-style, the styling for the Murena was all-new. The final shape was extremely aerodynamic for the time, with a reported drag coefficient ( C d {\displaystyle \scriptstyle C_{\mathrm {d} }\,} \scriptstyle C_{{\mathrm d}}\,) of 0.328.[5][4] The rear hatch opened to provide access to the engine mounted behind the passenger compartment and a rear luggage area. A signature feature carried over from the previous model was the seating arrangement - all three seats were placed in one row, with the middle seat folding down to become an armrest when not in use by a passenger.[7] In the Murena the three seats were separate, in contrast to the 2+1 arrangement in the Bagheera.
