It might work on carb cars but it is worthless because there are only two kinds of carb car owners now, Collectors holding a Classic or poor as dirt driving old junkers, the collectors don't care about MPG and would not mess with a classic and the poor junker owners cannot afford a MPG device...
you need to start with the 02 sensor before the CAT. You will need an EFIE device and start with changing it to 850 milivolts. that will lean it out.. and should result in 10-15 percent in crease im mpg while supplying hho in its place. If the check engine light goes on.. turn down milivolts till it turns off.

MAP sensor would need modding if you have Knock sensors

I did all that and worked on the post O2 as they are often the master controls...

Any way I have a pair of Zentronx devices on board and can lean the car as far as 20:1.

BUT on the 4.6 Ford motor the peek MPG is 16.5, and then it drops.

Power is also a major lost.

HHO does not work. You are putting an additional 1 horsepower load on the engine by adding a 20 to 30 amp alternator load and getting almost nothing in return. And every creditable source agrees.

I'm neither of those.
I use carburetors and just spent around $6,000 turning my 454 smog motor into a 489 with aluminum performance bow tie heads.
I do care about fuel economy. That's why I have air fuel meter, advanced carb tune kit, switchable cold air and thermostatic intake, engine block, coolant and oil heaters.

Your thinking in terms of "brute force" electrolysis, Only going to work that way if you pressurize the hho but not for very long, since you have a bomb then. (50 PSI). you would only have the HHO on when the cell goes below a certain amount of pressure then it would turn off. The amp load would only be a short time then. If you don't use brute force then you won't have to worry about the load on the alternator. You need to think in terms of Pulse signal and adding a magnetic field to it that collapse on it self and and goes back out. Think of duty cycle too. You would take down the amperage draw and still have the same or more amount of hho that you normally would with a dirct draw of 30 amps.

now onto your Carb issue. hho no problem with it, the key is making enough to keep up with the engine if you plan on replacing the gasoline eventually.

Industrial electrolysis is brute force. The only thing that breaks those electron bonds is brute force. If pulses and magnetic field voodoo worked that is what they would be using.

It almost sounds like you are saying that there is no reproducibility in hho. Which means it doesn't work .

I belive in fuel vaporization way more than hho.
At least fuel vaporization has been proven to work.
I even have a fuel vapor booster for my 489, mainly in cold weather, I'm not expecting it to help in warm weather.
