Thanks for making the video. I'd love to see more of these, especially from the really good hypermilers. The tips help a lot, but it's better when I can see them used.
Thanks for the support I agree I have watched every YouTube video out there.

What is the most efficient way to travel up this hill?

Starting from the highway at 55 MPH zone
Sharp right turn off the exit to a 40 MPH zone.
At the top of the hill speed limit drops to 35 MPH.
Another right hand turn at the top.
A traffic light I need to turn left at and try to make it green.

What would you do in this situation?

Pulse going down and hit 55 MPH+ at the bottom and EOC up?

EOC going down and as far up the hill as possible then bumpstart in 5th and DWL?

Hmmmmm???

At :29 you can hear my kill switch *click*
And bumpstart at 1:49
And a late kill switch *click* at 2:17

What hill?

I don't think I have anywhere in my normal commuting that I can coast for 1min 20sec... Those very gentle, rolling hills and complete lack of traffic would be nice.

I'd say you've got it about right, using as much as your momentum off the freeway as you can. Maybe a little more throttle for your pulse and kill it a lot sooner to get a long coast before the light. Plan for it being red rather than green since you can't see it until you are right there.

If I had that kill switch, I'd use it a lot more than you for sure, lol
I'd go from bump starting 25 times to 100 times a trip, but I'm just too lazy to do it more than that using ignition.

Right now my pulses and glides are waaaay longer. If there's no traffic behind me, I'll pulse very slowly up to 55, with just enough pressure on the gas pedal to kepp an increas of speed, and then glide down to 30, or even 25 if I'm still on a down slope at all.

I was listening to some Sublime while I watched so I didn't hear the clicks, but I did see Maryland has hills like Florida does

Yeah I drive in the late morning and late afternoon when there are less people out. Maryland is covered in rolling hills. I'm almost positive we don't have a flat highway in the entire state.

I do love my kill switch and the next thing will need to be a starter button right on the shifter.
I do the same when accelerating. Whats your 0 - 55 MPH time?? I skip shift from 1-3-5 or if I start from the top of a hill ill shift 2-4-5.

I go a little further on my coasts now. My car has had a few changes from the first video. the biggest being 55PSI.

I had a particularly long coast yesterday from freeway speeds down to ~30mph as traffic slowed on my way home last night. Very flat and it took 40 seconds. You managed to somehow coast from similar speeds in twice that time.

Other than the tire pressure, how do you get it to coast so far? Is it slightly downhill for most of that in the video (from :29 to 1:49) it's a little hard to tell.

Or maybe that is typical, and I've got something dragging on my car?

I tend to leave late in the morning and evening, but I still end up in plenty of stop-n-go traffic.

Yeah its all downhill just about, or flat, also I have a few simple aero mods. I would say the tires are the biggest help. I hate stop and go traffic too

I'd have to time my zero to 55, but it'd be around a minute at a guess. Like I said, I ease it up to speed, through every gear. I never skip shift cause I'd have to go over 2K rpms, but I'll definitely start out in second if I'm on any kind of down grade at all . . .

Seems to me like you approached the red light way too fast. Starting from a dead stop takes a lot more fuel than from even 1 or 2 MPH. Concentrate on keeping the car in motion as much as possible.

That's true I do need to work on that.
