I never thought that a car could be too dangerous while parked!

"A child could poke it and cut itself!"

Yes, but it would only do that once!

By the way, he eliminated duct tape. We will just assume that duck tape is out, too, and even gaffer's and gorilla tape.

What about aluminum tape? It is metal!

Is there iron tape?

Can you mix iron filings with Bondo? "See! It is metal! It holds a magnet!"

Yes you can get bondo with iron filings in it.
My asking the inspector if I could use duct tape was a a temporary pass to all ow me to drive it home to repair not as a permanent repair.
If a child is injured by my car even if its the kids fault, my insurance will be used, so its the same as driving, the car must be safe period.

This is insane and shows precisely why you do not want to draw any attention from the police, especially when it comes to your car.

Brutal WD40, I feel for you man. I've seen you a few times booting around town; you may have seen me in my current vehicle... white 1994 Honda Acty mini truck. Snagging a VX of my very own this Saturday, pretty excited! We should get together once you're back on the road and talk eco-turkey. Let me know if you need help with anything. I can offer a pseudo-shop and some muscle.

I have once seen a Honda Acty minivan in my most recent trip to Amazon...

Parents could just educate their children to not mess with other people's property, unless given permission to do so, but common-sense is nearly dead.

Aside from the repairs that need to be done to the vehicle, I think this would be a great time to talk to the inspectors about aeromods. Maybe they would work with you on what they would accept as legal. Then if you were pulled over specifically because the modded car looked unsafe to an officer you would be able to show him an official state inspection saying the mods were legal. I would think that some of the modifications would need to be semi-permanent. I would guess you would likely need a separate inspection for the mods but that would be fine. This way you could explain the reasoning behind the modifications. Anyway, you have to get the inspection done, might as well make the best of it.

I talked with the inspector today about my former aeromods.
The only issue he would have would be anything sharp, or sticking out past the legal limits, or anything that is flapping in the wind, or anything that might fall off.
He told me he has seen my car for years with the mods changing over time.
He also thought it was a great hobby for a great cause.
But if you get pulled over you will most likely be ordered in for an inspection.
The inspector told me that the cops hand out the orders like lollipops, gone are the days of just fix it and bring it by the station.

So here is a picture of my car just prior to removing all the aero.
I will upload an after picture once I get the car back on the road.

Step one if you deside to go to court is get "disclosure" from the crown prosecutors office. Then see what he has as evidence. study the law he used, then look up precedents if there are any... not likely... the first hearing will be used to see if you will plead guilty if they drop the fine in half. then you will work out a trial date. At trial you should be ready to present your case "on the evidence".
What is most likely is that the cop will not show up and the crown will withdraw the charges at the very last moment...
I am not a lawer but have defended myself in court... successfully.

...should have read the whole thing first...

The picture doesn't look too bad. Would there be any problem with extending the tail lights and the license plate holder to the rear of car? The tail lights could be made to fit flush with the plastic and the plates could be mounted externally and not cost much in the way of drag.
