The Mitsubishi Mirage is the WORST CAR you can buy!

You know, some reviewers who claim to be "car enthusiasts" are just biased toward oversized iron pigs, and are unwilling to recognise the good ideas applied to the project of a cheap runabout that effectively addresses the needs of its owners. BTW maybe the bashing against the Mirage can be compared to skeptical reactions to the VW Beetle at its introduction to America.

The Mirage is, subjectively, the worst driving car we've ever owned. Our '83 Laser drove better.

But our 2016-2017 handles decently (still not well, but decently), rides well and sips so little gas that I feel like I've got a hole in my wallet every time I borrow a media loaner. We completely forget to fill the Mirage until it's running on fumes. And even then, we just splash a gallon or two in and leave refilling for another week.

IIRC he didn't buy it, just rented it. But anyway, the ones who actually bought it sure had other priorities in mind.

That's a good point. Anyway, even though an older jalopy with all the bells and whistles may eventually seem more cost-effective at first, not everyone is mechanically-inclined enough to feel comfortable dealing with the unavoidably higher rate of failures in an older beaten-down ride.

Even though fuel is cheaper back there than in my country, I'm sure it may be more cost-effective in the long run than buying an older and eventually poorly-mantained oversized granny-cruiser to haul a couple of grocery bags once in a while and ride alone (or with no more than 2 or 3 passengers) most of the time. And even if fuel prices are not so significant at all, the reduced dependence on foreign oil might appeal to those who see it as a patriotic deal.

Most all of his complaints are trivial whiny bull ****. It's a cheap as **** car that gets great fuel economy. That's all it's meant to be and do, and it does. If you need A to B transport and don't have much money but don't want to buy a used car and you want good mileage, there you go.
