That is an Awesome idea.
Cmag and Wagonman76,
If you all start by listing your data, I will create a page on the wiki to list all the information.
Exactly what info would you all feel is important to list?

TT, I think you will get better participation if you use the ecomodder wiki, since people don't have to register or anything, and they will hopefully want to author on other topics too. Does that sound reasonable?

DCB,
That is probably very reasonable, but I have enough trouble managing my own sites and keeping track of data by consolidating is important for my efficiency. But if someone wants to grab this torch and run with it on the ecomodder, I am all for it, and they can copy my article as a start if they like.
I did create a chart if anyone wants to see it go to:

Can you put it on ecomodder? I have to jump through registration to get it off your site. If you are logged on here, you are logged onto the wiki, ben sorted that all out. Should be less effort for everyone involved.
Edit: Do the project members have an opinion? Ben?

DCB,
Done, go check it out. You may want to modify some things and add the pics. It looks like the wiki does not do the math part, so you may need to modify that.
Also, you do not need to log in to my wiki to get the source, you only need to click on the source tab.
Gotta Love Mediawiki `,~)
I hope this helps get the info faster and everyone chips in.
Check out the Car Data Table, that is the part we were just talking about and would be great to fill-in.

I added mine.
Page looks nice, arranged in good order. I added my Mitsubishi to it. Took me a few minutes to figure out how to edit the table but I finally worked it out.

I did good to get it on there. I didn't even consider trying to put it "in" the table.
I guess the Eclipse falls in with the Metro with a nervous speed readout. It jumps around 2 to 3 miles per hour when holding steady speed. Speedometer is steady but that does not mean that the signal is steady, the cable could be flexing or jumping and still not show on the speedo needle. I replaced the speedo cable earlier this year because the cruise control wouldn't stay set for more than about a half mile. After replacing the cable it will run for several miles before any flucuation at all.
The odometer part reads almost to the foot with the one in the car. The instant mileage readout bounces around some but I was wondering if that might be connected to the speed bouncing around? Current mileage is smooth up and down.
Overall it works just great. I've wanted something like this for years.
Many Thanks for the effort put in to making this happen.
Mark

For the VSS, heres what Ive found with many of my GM manuals. It appears most late 80s and early 90s models with electronic speedometer use 4000 pulses per mile going to the speedometer head and cruise control. For the earlier models with cable driven speedometer, it appears many use 2000 pulses per mile coming from the VSS buffer behind the cluster.
Not sure how to cleanly put this into the wiki page. Maybe its just the really new GM models that use 10000 pulses per mile?

We took a trip in the saturn and the instant speed readout for version 0.70 is very smooth. I have to get the portable scope working or borrow one.

I can put the invertor in the car and scope it with a small Snap On scope. I really hadn't thought about doing it. Should be able to do it this evening.

scope picture of speed sensor
this was at about 19-20 mph. shows the signal is 4.9 volts in amplitude. I didn't see any glitches in it, but I haven't driven it very far. faster didn't change the signal except I have to shorten the view time. Didn't drive it very far, just up and down the block without getting run over.

The instantaneous speed is determined by the distance between the peaks. Can I ask you to zoom in a bit and see if the "wavelengths" seem consistent at a given speed?
edit: Without getting run over?

I didn't know how that picture would look on the page so I re-saved it as a jpg and sized it down some from the original but this should be easier to see.

I meant when you display the data on the scope, can you scale it so there are like 3 or 4 peaks and valleys displayed?

I understood, just had to deal with end of day customers. Just got to go down the street again. This at 50 mph. Looks like all the same spacing to me.

Well, it isn't conclusive with parallax and all, but without precise values on exactly when those verticals occur, it looks like the signal itself might be wonkey (lot of slop in the speed signal on these cars?!?)
if I simply use paintbrush zoomed in and visually compare the widths, there does seem to be a noticable variance. Maybe I need a certain number of pulses or something? Maybe the vss cam has multiple lobes and they aren't terribly precise? Other thoughts?
I suppose I could lift a wheel and hook up a buzzer to the vss line and see...
