I cannot find the link that I shared, but people had similar concerns with seatbelts and airbags, but supposedly they have only made things better.

People overestimate the effectiveness of systems designed to keep themselves safe. I imagine people actually complain about the idea of self-driving cars on their iPhones while driving.
Armor makes you stupid.

Fat and stupid is no way to go through life.

Baja Bug with bully bar and nerf bars, roll cage and 5-point belts — the perfect urban vehicle. Compact and built to take it.

I thought you actually knew what I mean:

I know it wouldn't be the safest choice to go on expressways in a 125 to 160cc motorcycle converted into tricycle, but I'm still considering to try.

That's what I meant, your typical one-front two-rear tricycle. They'd be faster backward.

Two-front one-rear is possible

Older Civics, well, you'd have to look at Honda's overseas products, like the Brio... but those don't quite meet NHTSA or NCAP crash standards like the Fit does.

Mirage. What some of us here are driving now.

Of course, it's nowhere near as good to drive as an old Civic... the pogoing on the racetrack is insane, and the MIVEC variable valve timing is nowhere near as entertaining as the VTEC on an old Civic Si... but five star (NCAP) crash safety and even decent small overlap crash safety... plus incredible mpg... what more could you ask for?

Those reverse-trikes are not bad at all, but a conventional one with a single front wheel still usually leads to a better cargo or passenger capacity. Well, recently I've been seriously willing to build an utility trike around a Honda CG, and would want to put at least two jump-seats similar to the ones found at the designated space for wheelchair users or blind passengers accompanies by guide dogs in urban transit buses. Considering the proportions between lenght and width, it would still be likely to make better use of space on the street (and eventually the road too ) than a first-generation Ford Ka which was never available in the U.S. but IIRC had been exported from Brazil to Mexico.

Back to topic: look at these pictures from Wikipedia, one showing the first-ever Ford to be named Escort in the '50s (a small station-wagon based in the Anglia) and a first-generation Ford Ka released in '96. Which one looks bigger and which one is actually bigger?

It was quite shocking for me to figure out the Ka is bigger than that early Escort.

Corners make it look bigger?

I thought the Ka was some kind of an SUV. I rented one in Germany and kept asking "What is this thing?"

It was also the only car that I drove where you needed to pull on the shifter to enter reverse. There have been times I have accidentally shifted automatics into reverse because it went right past neutral. That has only happened with shifters on the steering column.

The Ka was fun because, not knowing how to enter reverse, I put it in neutral, and pushed the SUV out of its parking spot.
