river skating

I usually clear a rink on the St Lawrence River each winter and leave the shovels down there for random people to keep working at it.

This year was no exception! Friends would gather for a skate on Fridays after work before heading out for a TGIF at the pub.

We got about 4 weeks out the rink this year before Mother Nature took it away (heavy snowfall + cracks in the ice = slushy flooded mess).

There are a couple of flooded rinks in town that the city maintains, but what's the fun in that?

I had fun this winter, but I'm ready for spring now.

Winter finally descended on us last week. Last Monday, we had a slushy mix of stuff fall, which hardened as temps during the day never climbed above freezing. I learned that the Echo is a capable winter car, and also that Texas is very unprepared for events like this. Also, I probably barely broke 20mpg for that day. It's been cool here ever since.
