There are other oil analyzers out there for less money, but blackstone gives you a good description where others may just give you the numbers. For those not experienced in analysis results, this is a good option.

If your car leaks oil, fix the leaks before analysis. When getting the sample, do not idle the car to warm it up, this will introduce fuel to the oil and give you undesireable results. Instead, either take the sample cold, or go for a romp and get it hot. As I have said before, my driving style does not heat the oil up, so a romp was necessary for me so I could burn off any temporary crap in the oil, like moisture. This is likely true for most ecomodders, and is also true for anyone who does mostly short trips. If you want to go for long oil changes, check the box(on a card that comes with the kit) for TBN, this tells you how much additive package is left.

As an aside, I saw a V6 Accord coupe with stick in Maine the other day. PA seems to have a lot of stick drivers (women too!), not where I'd have expected that...

Another new best tank! 42.4 mpg!

Oh yeah baby! 527.7 miles went by, all without the fuel light turning on! 12.442 gallons. I used the motorcycles for my work commute and did more pulse and glide(all engine on). I could get used to this.

These are 16" wheels that weigh 16 lbs each, my 17" oem wheels weigh 23.5 lbs each. I have already noticed a difference . It is easier to get moving, acceleration is quicker, and I can shift up earlier. Although that last part may have something to do with the fact that the tires on the rims right now are 24.9" where my old tires were 25.5". The tires on these wheels right now are sporty tires, so I wont expect any improvement until I grab some 205/60/16 EP 422+'es.

New tire and rim combo should weigh 36 pounds each, old combo weighs 48 pounds each.

I once drove 565 miles in my Civic and 617 miles in my Accord and did not have a low fuel light in either. I think the low fuel light came on once when I first owned my Subaru, but not later, when it should have. People always claim you should not run your cars until empty.

That is what They want you to believe!

I think your fuel lights are broken!

I went 605.2 miles on 14.149 gallons: 42.8 MPG. The fuel light came on at 550.4 miles. Yet another best tank. I also got a new best trip of 48.5 mpg.

I got new 205/60/16 Bridgestone Ecopia EP 422+s some time during the last tank. No picture of the new tires, but I did manage to park next to another accord at my school who also swapped to Acura RSX rims.

I was expecting a serious loss of traction and increase in 2nd gear burnouts with these new tires, but they seem to have the same traction as my previous WIDER 215/50/17 Yokohama YK 580s. They are noisier in hard corners, but that is likely a result of the taller sidewalls.

I'm still the lame duck in team honda, but SOOO close to not being the worst mpg car. Considering that every other car is a civic, fit, or insight, that is kind of scary.

Another best tank 44.6 MPG

606.1 miles, 13.577 gallons. 44.6 mpg. All highway commute excluding car meets. Installed some side skirts before this tank, didn't notice anything for sure, but they might be helping. I SHOULD make optimized rear wheel deflectors, but I don't know when I will get around to that.

Cold weather mods such as oil filter/oil pan insulation, and the half upper grill block coming soon.

I'm not the lame duck in team Honda anymore, look at that percent over EPA!

Rear wheel deflectors

I made some rear wheel deflectors using the same design as I did for the front wheels. However, these are actually turned in slightly to the center of the car, for two reasons. First, I would love to be able to use the rear jack points without having to remove a bleep ton of screws. Second, because everyone's favorite huchie guchie published this photo of airflow under a car SPREADING OUT and approaching the tires at an angle. I imagine having side skirts would reduce this, but it wouldn't stop it all together.

That's looking like a complete undertray now!

I may have noticed a slight improvement in coasting, I have only had either of these deflectors on for two round trips of my highway commute, and traffic hasn't cooperated on my calibrated hill. Anyways, typical 44-46 mpg trips seem to have turned into 46-47 mpg trips. I still need to seal up the seams in the deflectors AND the side skirts with hot glue.

Highway commute is over for now, just in time for a fillup. Look at that percent over EPA! (99.5% for future viewers)

Brake drag reduction springs

Fabbed me up some brake drag reducing springs from our member here arcosine's instructions. Took an old bicycle wheel and stole as many of its spokes out as I had the patience for. Spins real nice.

I pretty much summed it up in this video:



Haven't tried them out yet cause there is some weird white powder on the ground. Haven't got the lab test results back yet, so I don't want to risk it.

EDIT: Got to drive it, I am gonna say I think it rolls better at a stop after letting off the brake, no idea on gas mileage yet. HOWEVER, I can feel a difference in the brake pedal which I DO NOT like. The first little bit of pedal is nice and squishy and does pretty much nothing. I can assume the brakes would still be able to get the wheels to lock up, but I really don't like having no initial bite with the brakes.

The clips I made were very strong, so I'm going to go back in there and bend them some more so they don't push back as hard. If my campus is closed again tomorrow, then I will do it then, otherwise they will live through one highway commute and hopefully I will see a difference in the mileage.

Meh, squishy pedal feel at the beginning I think isn't as big of a deal because if you're used to it, you'll just hit the pedal faster by instinct. Racers sometimes use anti-knockback springs (which do the opposite thing) so the pedal feel is consistent. If you like more bite, the best way to get that is a higher coefficient of friction pad.
