Nice views. Against my wishes, I might be moving to Rochester area next year. Do you guys generally meet anywhere close to there?

This was the first time I organized this event, so there's no "generally" that we can reference. Another group drove a similar route up Mt Greylock a few years ago. We're thinking of a repeat next year, but a bit earlier in the season for better weather. Of course it would be great to have you join us if you can.

There's an excellent annual event in Watkins Glen NY annually, the Green Grand Prix. On the historic twisty turns track. That is closer to Rochester. Driving in that event is an absolute hoot, highly recommended. Here's the link for the April 2014 GGP:

On saturday Sept 10th the Amherst astronomical society will be setting up a bunch of telescopes on the top of Mount Greylock in Adams MA (Western MA). It's starts at 8pm and is cancelled for bad weather. http://mtgreylockstarparty.org/

I went to the one last night and it was stunning! I saw shooting stars, the rings of Saturn, Mars, the Milky way, nebula, star clusters and the Andromeda Galaxy. I highly suggest going if you can. If you live in a light polluted area it is a revelation. The view at sunset on the mountain is stunning as well!

It's an Astronomy group from Amherst ( Amherst Area Amateur Astronomers Association ) . I live in the area so I saw one of the fliers. They had between 5-6 of the real big scopes between 8-12 inches. They go through a tour of all the these objects. The weather was really nice when I went last saturday. Here is the fixed link sorry, it has all the info 2016 Mt. I was going to go to that last year but it was cancelled due to weather. Unfortunately I can't make it on the 10th.
