True enough. M$ is selling to schools now. Apple is more or less a phone company. Elon Musk might invite a hostile takeover to protect his position as CEO. The board (of directors) is getting restless.

Tesla teases Model 3 dual motor & performance packages

https://www.cnet.com/roadshow/news/t...-by-elon-musk/
Quote:
While horsepower and torque have not yet been revealed, Musk says the new standard dual-motor all-wheel-drive Model 3 will hit 60 mph in 4.5 seconds and run to 140 mph. The second motor, which brings with it AWD, will cost an extra $5,000. ... will have a total driving range of 310 miles, the same as the current long-range, big-battery Model 3 equipped with a single motor
...
a second, higher-power dual-motor, AWD performance model will also be available, featuring a brisk 3.5-second 0-60 mph time, a 155-mph top speed and the same 310 miles of range. Those numbers suggests that the high-end Model 3 will deliver performance very similar to that of today's larger Model S hatchback.
Bloomberg reports Tesla produces 500 Model 3's a day now, but will halt the production line for a week soon to make further adjustments.

Was reading about fires. The battery can’t be protected, per se, as the car IS the battery.

And how easy it would be to cheat on crash testing. (Which wouldn’t surprise a bit; pharmaceuticals, anyone?)

So. In a crash with a jalopy and everyone walks shakily away, it’s quick-roast and crunchy with a battery car. A Mattel.

The rare fires that ever do occur in a Tesla usually take several minute to hours to start with many warnings preceding. gas car fires are many times more common per vehicle mile.

While the Model S battery pack was designed to be swappable, the Model 3 battery is highly integrated.

The fire danger is persistent. duckduckgo.com:tesla fire days later

Some interesting projections on Model 3 margins (and future profitablity) in there.

Tesla is kicking GMs butt, now. Cranking out about 5x more Model 3 than Bolts.

"As usual, it’s important to remind everyone that even though electric vehicle fires are heavily represented in the media, EVs don’t catch on fire more often than gasoline cars. According to the National Fire Protection Association, more than 150,000 gasoline car fires occur in the U.S. every year."

In CR’s testing, Model 3's braking distance from 60 mph was 152 feet, a distance that the outlet claimed is “far worse than any contemporary car [it has] tested” and was nearly seven feet longer than the braking distance than that of a Ford F-150.
Quote:
When trying to perform tasks like messing with the AC and adjusting the mirrors, the testers had to use that touch screen alone. That’s too complex and distracting, CR argued, forcing drivers to take their eyes off the road to operate.

And finally, the “stiff ride, unsupportive rear seat and excessive wind noise at highway speeds” didn’t do the Model 3 any favors. The outlet argued that other competitors in the compact luxury sedan segment have a better ride quality and more comfortable rear seat.
