Centurion's skirts makeover.
-
For the 2016 Green Grand Prix, Centurion featured rear skirts and wheel discs. The discs held up nicely but the rear skirts did not. Weather in April was too cold to fiberglass the skirts (outdoors) so a temporary set was constructed from birch plywood with a coroplast (voting sign) faceplate.
-
Recently the coroplast was starting to show problems as the sunlight would heat it up, and different parts would expand at different rates. The visual was something that looked like wavy painted cardboard, Time for a makeover....
-

-
-
The first attempt included some new foam panels from the big-box store. Given the size and thickness of the skirts, and using a small sample as a guinea pig, these looked like the perfect material to fiberglass over, and for the first 30 minutes or so - they were. By morning however, the foam turned to blue snot and this attempt was added to the wall of shame.
-

-
-
Rummaging through the geologic layers of crap around here, a couple sheets of Luan turned up and the fun began.
-
The finished skirts are very sturdy and should last a long - long - time!

You were trying to improve the mileage of the truck by filling the wake?

Freedom Festival and Car Show
Saturday - July 3rd 2016 - Colton, NY to Queensbury, NY

After being dragged home on a flatbed the previous weekend, Centurion has rebounded with vigor!
-
Using about 2 gallons for the entire round-trip suggests she's right back on track!
-

-
-
There were roughly 100 cars at this show and although it was hot out, Centurion was hotter!

She earned a little trophy that looks like an old-time gas pump. A much smaller version of the real McCoy I dragged inside my house some 20 years ago. The award MC was laughing because he had an X1/9 and he said it didn't look anything like mine - lol!

About 80 car fanatics got a Centurion momento before the supply ran out.

This was Saturday, and the beginning of a back-to-back sporadic double header weekend...

If the plate tectonics ever go haywire, the roads in New York State may get better reviews. In response to their constant state of disrepair, Centurion gets a few upgrades:
-
1) Grease-able Ball Joints
2) Grease-able Tie Rod Ends
3) Adjustable Radius Arms
-

-

-

-

-

-

-

-

-

-
The new ball joints and tie rods ends are heavier than the originals from 1966 and the adjustable radius arms will save quite a bit of time during those parking-lot 4-wheel alignments!

New Water Pump Defective.
Back on 5-26-2016 (http://ecomodder.com/forum/showthrea...tml#post515275 , Centurion got a new water pump to replace the 34 year old one. The new water pump has failed. The nipple for the heater hose literally fell out of the pump housing. Wonderful, but a good opportunity to make it much better:
