How sure are we that they didn't cheat emissions on this one too?

Because the car has NO emissions.
This is our 2017 VW e-Golf, with it's 35.8kWh battery. The EPA range is 125 miles. In warm (not hot) weather, the range is showing 182 miles!
The e-Golf is a real joy to drive - it coasts by default and is set up the best of any EV, in my opinion.

I will never own another VW product again.
Only had to make that mistake once.
My leaf will occasionally show nearly or over 120 miles of range. I don't trust that as far as I could push it.

So the pack operates at ambient? My volt pack is way more efficient at 80 degrees Fahrenheit, so I could presume the 182 remaining was accurate

I don't know if the e-Golf battery pack is actively cooled (I just looked it up - it is not), but I am pretty sure it is heated, as required in colder temperatures.

Might be worth it to see what temp the batteries are at: when does the battery heater turns on / off. VAG ought to tell you.

Any way to determine e-Golf battery condition? I might go look at one today. Wondering how the e-Golf compares to Spark EV. Things I like about Spark are active cooling of battery, faster acceleration, and lower price. That's about it, but those are pretty big considerations.

A dealer could do a battery check. That would be worthwhile, for sure.
What year and what model are you looking at? The one with aero wheels is better, but if it has steel wheels, then it would also be fine.
We have our second e-Golf - we really like the way they coast by default, and their adaptive creep. Also, they have a direct heating windshield defroster, which is a bit weak, but helpful in some situations. The front seats have amazing heaters!
I have not driven a Spark electric, but I think it would be too small for my family.

Always thought the e-golf would be outside of the price I'd want to pay, but dealer wants $13,000 for a 2015 CPO Limited Edition (which is highly misleading being the lowest trim).
I might low-ball an offer and see how they counter. Does the Limited come with cruise control? I saw something online suggesting it might not, which would be strange considering it has rain sensing wipers.
