I might give it a try. I see it sharing a 0.2% market penetration with Seamonkey.

yep. Mechanic was wondering how I went so far on my brake pads once, there were literally no life to them. Well, my braking distance didn't ever increase because I never have to brake hard and no one should. I hate the many people who don't coast at all who slam the brakes at 100 some feet before stop sign at 55+ mph I am thinking 'is he/she going to stop?' (Iv'e seen many in winter blow the stop sign because of speed and not allow extra distance to start slowing and I who doesn't have the stop sign stop in time for them watching their scared and surprised(that I stopped) faces as they slide by)

I think my front pads have about 150,000 miles on them and there's still some life left.

YKYAEM when after 209,000 on my XFE I haven't even had the rear drums off. Parking brake is a little weak so I should replace/check them.

Turtle Your rental car is a Jeep Compass High Altitude (2014?)

DISAPPOINTMENT = Your rental "car" company only has a Jeep !!

You were hoping for a Corolla and your disappointment affects the beginning of your trip. Then your attitude slowly adjusts to the inevitable and mouth corners accept the challenge as:

-the interweb tells you it's mileage is within 20% of your 19 year old ecomodded minivan (that has slightly smaller engine but much more luggage space)

-you internally give a sigh of relieve (Jeep not being known for fuel economy), then

-your Scan Gauge and internal gauges tell you that it gets better fuel economy than your old old beast, then

-the fillups verify better mileage, then

-you figure out how to get the most out of the "automatic" CVT -- push the shift lever to the side and it changes to manu-matic.

-Lock it into highest gear (6th) once you get high enough rpm to force/request 6th and only worry about shifting again when it forces you to downshift as you go below ? rpm

-determine what LOD forces the downshift (since we were in mountains) and

-realize that staying in 6th is more worthwhile than any other techniques so swooping through valleys and going fast when necessary in order to stay in 6th as long as possible is very successful (with this vehicle).

End result: several thousand km over the Rockies and back average between 7 and 8 L/100km. If I can ever find the receipts I can post with more accuracy.

I'm in a similar boat. I had a stuck brake but because it happened when I don't drive often, I didn't notice it. It still got good fuel economy and unless I was going breakneck speeds around twisty mountain roads, I could still stop fast enough with an overheated disk.

YKYAEM when you laugh as you ride your bike by lines at the gas station and wonder how long it's been since you had your car there.

I couldn't help it, I had to stop and take a photo. And, wonder how many of those folks, just one in a car, could have just as well peddled to their destination. Funny, I've got some 12,000+ miles on that bike, but still haven't filled it up with gas.
