I never tracked the MPG back when gas was cheaper. But, this spring I was doing a 50 mile round trip to a work site, with about 60% highway (staying under the 65 speed limit).
30% of the back roads were up and down some good sized hills.
If the speed limit was 35 or 40 on the back roads, that was my speed.
I was getting up to 32 MPG on those trips, with an average of about 31.2
MPG. Which is a lot better than EPA.
When I started my mods, my goal was 35 MPG highway. That was easy.
I hit 36 a few times doing all highway loops (w/o a lot of hills).
In the real world, it's the red lights and stop signs that kills MPG..
IIRC, my highway MPG when the CRV was new was around 28 MPG..
Of course back then, I was a lead-foot..

Hey Xringer,
Saw the work you did on your mudflaps, and then glanced through the list of mods you have on. Great work!
But I was left wondering, as to why you have so little improvement to show over EPA ratings - it does not make sense to go to these lengths for the modest gains you are seeing for all this work...
Could you please throw some light on this part?
