HF engines for the first generation crx look the same as all the other 1.5l engine, because they are a 1.5l engine, other then they have an aluminum air intake instead of black steel, the 1.3l crx was only sold in the US for a single year, 1984, and was not an HF but was labeled as a CRX 1.3.

Ryland,
Contacting you since you seem to know about Honda CRX's, specifically the HF model. I have a line on a 1987 HF for sale but, when I looked at the underhood engine decals, they seemed to indicate the motor was a 1.5 liter (91cid) rather than the 1,342cc unit that's supposed to get 50+mpg. The car has the 'HF' badge on the rear and everything inside is manual (tranny, window cranks, etc) which vouches for it being the base model.
How can I tell if the motor is the smaller version? Are the decals wrong or merely describing the class/family of the engine?
Would like some help here in my shopping endeavors and would appreciate your time if you can spare some.
Thanx!
