You are absolutely right!

Modern engines burn pretty much all the fuel dispensed, within the power stroke. Simply vaporizing the fuel before it enters the engine does not gain you any additional efficiency unless your fuel...

Nuke plants don't need to be built like Fukashima.

The US Navy has robust designs that rock-and-roll on submarines to aircraft carriers. Design an anvil system that will meet all local as well as national requirements and pop them into old coal...

No.

As to point number 1:

The majority of the gasoline is comprised of C8 to C9 carbon chains. A small percentage of heavier oils are contained but comprise such a small amount as to be immaterial to...

Here in Southern California, the "Ricer" crowd often leverages E85.

Some of these heavily modified Hondas and Mitsubishis, etc. run 10 second quarters using E85 and do so meeting the strict emission checks here in the AQMD (Air Quality Management District) of the Los...

It's over 800k miles estimated at this point.

The engine block, injection pump and 5 speed transmission are original and untouched. Everything else has been changed or rebuilt along the way.

The aftermarket support for these old diesel...

I grew up on one of those islands in the Pacific.

We, fortunately had a large mountain smack dab in the middle of the island so that when the typhoon season hit and the storm driven tides would rise, we would move to higher ground. Grandpa had a...

You will need a vehicle with Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI).

The vegetable oil is just about impossible to ignite if it is sprayed out of a common gasoline port injector (45-60 pounds per square inch injection pressure). A GDI engine runs 2000 to 3000 PSI. ...

You, Sir, can go to the head of the class!

Upper class and graduate courses expand on these concepts. You are but a hop, skip and jump from a doctorates.

We also must add that pgfpro has certain advantages built into his engine system. ...

This is one of my favorite threads.

I'm trying to repair the odometer on my 1985 Mercedes 190D because it broke at 595K miles. That was five sets of tires ago and almost 20 years. I might just make a stab at things using an...

I stand by my statement.

None of the finalists made any contribution to current automotive technology.

I'm cheering for Aptera, but they are not in production . . . Yet.

Several teams, such as ourselves, pulled...

Thanks for this trip through memory lane.

The Xprize didn't live up to it's initial billing but it was informative and fun, while it lasted.

I appreciate the pictures. As my wife would say, "I don't read, but I like pictures"!

This discussion brings up a point.

Ice cap albedo is not the only form of albedo and is minimal in comparison to the other albedo changing activities we as humans perform.

I read an article years ago on a piece of newsprint that...

I have family that work in Kenya as physicians.

They have worked in Kenya since the 60s. They say this drought is not the root of the problem. The problem is population.

This is true all across the globe.

So, how do you control population?...

This video post is a good example of science avoidance.

Sharkskin on aircraft.

Saw this announcement and am very interested in it's applications.

Could it be made and applied to road vehicles?

I really like this discussion and concept.

UpVote multiple times if I could.

The trick is to transition to our new forms of energy without upsetting that upward march.

People are simply too comfortable in their ideologies to work on those transitions. . . now.
