04 aveo po300 code,rough idle

so we are working on an aveo swapping heads p0300,p0700,p1781 codes and according to the dealer it had bad valves. anyway we find out the engine is a 06 not an o4.. so we get it all back together after a month with batt disconected.. we fire it up and it idles rough.. it has code p0300 again.. it has new wires, plugs, coil, crank and cam sensor..with this engine being an o6 not an 04 will the cam or crank reluctor rings be different? is a cks relearn needed? i dont think the timing belt is off, i rotated the engine by hand twice and the marks lined up.. any other ideas??

thanks

You may get better assistance on the aveo forum. Can't think of the address... Aveoforums.net?

The p0300 is a random misfire code and the two other are transmission codes. I would start with a crank case relearn and once it is running if you still have the issue see if the exhaust smells like eggs. The dealer should have checked the EGR and O2 values to see if they are not responding like they should.

How did they determine it was the valves did they do a compression test?

What did you keep from the original engine?
