I still think the path to the most ridiculous Insight mileage from a motor swap is the 799cc oil burner from the 1st gen Smart fortwo.

Isn't that what they used in the Avion? I tought there were hints that's the engine they used.

They only problem with the 3 pot from the smart might be the acceleration requirements for the xprize.

The cool thing about the insight is that they kept the hybrid system on top of the diesel engine.

I think he could make the accel tests if he pumps up the diesel and/or electric motor a bit. Cool idear.
