The Honda Accord:

I'm a bit surprised the Hilux diesel isn't in there, not even Jeremy Clarkson could kill one.

This has got to be the record; a 1966 Volvo P1800 with 2.6 Million miles on the odometer:

Man with 2.6 million-mile Volvo P1800 aims for 3 million

It is immaculate!

He intends on hitting 3 million miles in the next 5 years or so...

I didn't even include my 1999 Maxima. At 140k miles it uses no 5W30 Mobil 1. Still has the original water pump, which is driven off the timing chain and makes the car operational even if both fan belts broke, but you would have to watch for the battery draining and keep it charged until you could replace the alternator belt. Original muffler and exhaust system. I doubt if it has ever had a light bulb replaced. The paint is still in amazing condition and it will be 13 years old in February. We bought it new.

Rust is non existent on the Maxima here, but that is typical of vehicles where I live as long as they are not right next to the ocean.

Even Metros do not rust away here, unless they take a dip in salt water during flooding.

Mech

Fun thread. But my ex-wife could kill any of these cars .

Whenever I see an older vehicle going down the road I find myself ruminating about the tenacity of the mechanic that has kept it on the road, more than the engineering of the vehicle itself.

I have always heard about the toughness of any late 70's Toyota.
I would put them in 2nd place behind the '60's Mopar 225 in any body style.

Older Volvo's probably about 3rd place.

Honorable mention to the Ford Fairmont. I personally knew 2 people that had these; one was a died in the wool Chevy man who told me he was ready to replace it, but it kept working fine.

I have had the experience of driving a Fairmont wagon w 302 V8 as a company car.

Very fun, fast, handled well; and quite the sleeper!

I'm surprised that Volvo is also in this list. I'm just sure about 7 of them never die.
