1000 km (621.37 mile) non-hybrid tank!
I met my goal of a 1000 km (621.37 mile) tank in my Scion xB today. I only used 10.563 gallons to refill, for an average of 58.84 mpg, >210% of the xB's 28 mpg combined EPA estimate.

Driving the whole tank with low speed P&G as much as possible, and driving later in the afternoon when temperatures were higher. Only mods are tires inflated to sidewall maximum, lower grill block, and a WAI that fails to improve performance in ABA testing. I leave it on, since I think it helps the car warm up in the Winter

Maybe 10% city driving. Most of my driving is on country roads.

Good on you!
Twice the EPA combined rating seems an impossible task. I guess that just means I still have room to improve.
I should see how many miles I can get in a tank... should easily exceed 700 miles.
Mike
(worse mileage, MUCH bigger tank)

Darrell, Way to go!!! This is an awesome achievement that reflects your hard work, discipline and determination. Your coaching and testing has helped me to improve my hypermiling a lot and I'm glad you have also benefited from your efforts.
Well done!

Thanks, everybody.
Vic, I'm managing some 72 mpg trips on my 10 mile test loop as the weather warms up. My main change for this tank was lowering my P&G speeds. I used to think an 8 second pulse & 16 second glide was normal. By lowering my delta, I now get 8 second pulses with 30-40 second glides.
I suspect I'll be able to top 80 mpg in the Summer driving to Costco, Wal-Mart, Home Depot, & the mall.
It was great to get some hypermilers together to exchange ideas. We'll have to do it again. I think we all benefited.

What's the fuel tank capacity on the xB ? 12 gallons ?
I wish I could manage to get 1000 km out of my toyota echo on a single tank.
Congrats !
