Welcome to the fun.

Nice looking ZJ, I'm with rog, swap to a 242 or a 231 for MPG gains and having a "real" t-case :P Is that 13 mpg speedo corrected for the tires?

Of course ignoring all the obvious damage you've caused on the way there...

Real sorry you feel that way. My club works with the Forest Service to do what they don't have the resources to do...

And saving fuel CAN be fun. Just remember that you don't NEED to be in a hurry all the time. Then just adjust how you use the accelerator and brake. If I can get better than 20 from my brick, and DPoV can break 25 with his, we ought to be able to get a couple MPG better from yours, though the V8 will make it a little tougher.

I added some air for less rolling resistance. How much is up to you. When mine got too rough to drive comfortably I backed down some. If you aren't already using synthetic lubricants, now is a good time to switch. Might not help much, but they are better for the equipment.

Change the Tcase and adjust the speedo. I'd imagine you might be geting a little better mileage than you hink. Superlift I think makes a nice adjuster that isn't too expensive. Friend of mine with a TJ and 6" lift and 35s brought his speedo back to accuarate. Well, not certified accurate...

i already plan the swap the tcase, i just need time! lol. and that 13mpgs is off of my gps unit not my speedometer. i am also open to a festiva or a crx but the possibilities of the metro seem amazing. i actually found a metro today that i will probably be picking up. its a 93 convertible with 111,000 miles. i plan a boattial along with tranny swap, turbo and interior gutting. all will be untertaken immediatly. i love my jeep and it is way too fun too sell. that would never happen. but i want a little beater to work on as a hobby and to reduce my $100 a week gas bill!!! lol

For a 5.2 running 31s that sounds low. When was the last time you did a tune up?

31s aren't that much taller, I'll guess your gearing is 3.73. Same as what I'm running. I seem to recall the V8s using the 3.73s.

I'd seriously consider fuel and air filter changes. And a can of Seafoam through the motor to clean up as much gunk as possible. If your only getting 13 that IS low, but 10s? There is something not quite right. Even though I know the Limited has a ton of extras, low mileage isn't one of them.
