Cleaned all the tape residue off my car over the last couple of days, on my breaks @work.
Doing a bit of paint detailing, and as money permits, will be doing interior work to.
Still have to put a thermostat in the car

Going to be offline for a few days, transitioning to wifi @the house from the cell phone.

Changed my shift points today, from 2500-2800 to 1900-2200. Should improve economy.
Going for a full tank. The engine is a torquey one so my acceleration is still with traffic. Before I would outrun traffic til I got up to speed. With the new cam I can feel the power come on @2500rpm's, all 125 peak or so hp lol. Estimated peak 150 lb ft torque.
Stock is 115hp/137tq.

I wanted to get the window shade done before I left for my trip tomorow. I didn't get time to do it, and my idea didn't work. Ran around all day tring to get last minute stuff done, spent way to much money.. Filled the car up 29+mpg not bad considering there was rain all day and I drove about 60 mi in town(fail) on my part.
I installed new driving lights under the front bumper today in prep for evening driving this fall. (so I don't have to pop my headlights open).

Also had a new turbo muffler installed, we will see if that affects mpgs. If is about 1/2 the weight as stock and not rusty.

So I am back home, 35 mpg on the return loop. Got some intresting info about my car on the Celica Gts forum.
Quote:The 22-RE fuel injection system circulates fuel through the hot fuel rail continuously and in just a couple of hours of driving it can get the bulk fuel in the tank surprisingly hot. I've measured tank floor temperatures well in excess of 120F with my infrared thermometer after driving in 70F weather. If I were to refill the tank with ~4 gallons with the remaining ~12 gallons of bulk fuel this hot it would take significantly less volume (gallons) of fuel to refill it than if the bulk fuel temperature was similar to that of the fuel being added. This gives a falsely low fuel usage number, leading to a falsely high mpg number.:Quote

The poster of this and I agree, I did not have an issue on this trip as I had wet roads and cool temperatures for 100% of the drive and rain for 90%.

IIRC, the difference in mass between a gallon of gas at 50F and a gallon of gas at 100F was about 2%. Not enough to make much of a difference, IMHO.

(Been a little while since I ran the calculations, though.)
