1995 Camaro LT1 gas mileage

Not many of my performance oriented friends really appreciate my goals for fuel economy in the cars I build. I figure someone here might..

One notable experience, 275 mile trip from Upstate NY to Long Island NY, I averaged 32 MPG in my 370 HP 95 convertible Camaro.

Stock height, stock tires and rims, LT1, T-56 6 speed, 3.23 rear ratio(overall drive ratio of 1.615).
Engine mods;
High flow; Moroso air filter and intake, Granatelli MAF, Pacesetter headers and y-pipe, 3" catalytic converter, air foil on throttle body.
11:1 compression, 1.52 full roller rockers.
Stock cam, heads, intake, throttle body, injectors, tune, etc.

Avg speed 70-80 MPH (yes that high) on highways, with some stop and go traffic through the city. Couldn't believe how much gas I still had when I got home.

Sick of hearing about how much of a gas guzzler my car is, cuz its not.
Around town I avg 17-19 MPG driving like an *hole. But that's my choice

While my '80s Camaros didn't have nearly the power yours has, I was pleased with the 30+ mpg highway I was getting.
A friend had a v6 Firebird and was upset that I was doing better than he was. Not wanting to say anything about his driving style, I just told him my 305 just wasn't having to work as hard.

The LSx boys seem to get great MPG as well which makes even me (big Mustang nut) take note. I wish I would allow myself to be ok with ******* swaps cause ide love to have the power and efficiency of as LS1/6speed swap in my 90 coupe!!! Guess Ill have to wait until the Coyote 5.0 swap gets a bit cheaper LOL. Thats great of you tho, awesome to have power and MPG!

Yeah they seem to do very well on Hwy,
my 4.6 does "ok".

If I could do it all over again, I may have chose to leave my stock 3.31 gears in and save the $$ spent on the 3.73's for something else.

There are a few members with big engines that still get fair MPG.
Keeping the rpm down works well in V8s and the like.

If you slow down a bit on the motorway, but be sure to keep it in top gear, you'll be pushing 35mpg.

Mine came with 2.73 stock!!! I swapped in some 3.55s and was fine with the mpg back then. With a 6 speed like what the OP has or the new stangs run, you could keep the 3.73s and still do really well!

Those are good numbers but almost every car is great on the highway, especialy sports cars because of the low drag. It's the city driving that kills. My escape gets 30mpg on the highway but ~15 mpg in the city

True, but i wasnt getting near that mileage before i found ecomodder. As inefficient as the engine in my car is (215hp out of 5L) im getting the same mileage out of it as i did a 2007 lincoln mkz a family member of mine owned (it was a v6) while slightly hypermiling
