Depending on how much you want to do. You could go to a junk yard, buy a trunk lid with no wing. You could fiberglass on the underside of the trunk lid, and smooth the outside with bondo, and paint. A welder could weld the holes closed, and grind it down so it is fairly smooth. Again, you would have to paint over it. Or you could stick duct tape over the holes. The wing is a source of drag.

Get a scan gauge if you don't have one. It's not always a matter of going slower, but driving at the best speed, and keep a steady throttle.

I agree about the scangauge. Also, look into pulse & glide.
