New driver, my wife, and myself, not new, but only 24, two newish vehicles (2000 and 2001) and I get discounts for different stuff, as well.

I have street racing and wreckless driving stuff on my record, but that's all gone middle of next year.

While I don't advocate street racing, I will attest to the fact that I did make more money doing it than it ever cost me, and even with the increased insurance rate, that fact still stands.

you just need to sign up for NEW insurance next year as a fresh customer so its off your record and once your over 25 it will drop a LOT.

Yup, in February. I'm going to call my ins co and tell them that they can either issue me a new policy because of my age, or I'll take my business elsewhere. Everyone's prices are about the same for basic insurance coverage.

NO wrong way to do it. you will never get the "same rate" as you would as an unknown. PERIOD. you are likely going to have to change companies or at the MINIMUM call other companies for quotes (DO NOT use online quotes they are always 2-3 times higher than what you CAN get geicho wanted to charge me $700..... PER SIX MONTHS versus the $400 a year I am paying now. Yeah I laughed at them.

this way at least you have a REAL target price to argue with them over.

I don't intend to cancel it before I get other coverage. I've already got lower quotes from other companies, which I will use when I confront my current provider. Even if they cancel me on the spot, they still have to provide coverage for 10-30 days so I can get other coverage.
