Thanks sheepdog 44. I'll be sure to check that out.

Speaking of the hood, it doesn't open properly. When you pull the release inside it doesn't pop up. It takes one person pulling the hood up and another pulling the release to get it open.

Another thing I'm debating is pulling the trans out. It has the 2nd gear grind. Its not horrible but its definitely there. I read about the syncho fix a little and I think I can do it. I just don't know if I want to do it before I put the car on the road or not.

Have any of you done this?

I just double clutch. Seems a lot of trouble to fix.

It does seem like a lot of work. However, if I plan on keeping this car a while, it would be nice to just have it done. Once I get rid of my 2nd car, doing this becomes a 'can I get it done in a weeekend' job vs taking my time.

If you do it, please document it well. Now that I have a second car again, it's actually possible that I might do it too.

My understanding is that the 2nd gear grind happens because people downshift to 2nd when coming to a stop to get some extra regen. This wears out the synchronizer.

My car doesn't have the grind, but I double clutch anyway because it will develop it from that kind of downshifting in absence of double clutching. So rebuild or not, double clutching is probably the way to go.

Once Daox puts himself a custom 3D printed shift knob on there, he'll get all the regen he needs without ever downshifting into second to use it.
