Smile 30% increase - 2006 toyota corolla

New to the forum, been lurking and researching for a long time. I have a few "eco" vehicles to try and save $$$.

First is the car, a 2006 toyota corolla. 5spd manual with over 180,000 miles on it. Reliable and runs perfectly. Combined EPA is 31 mpg. My (and my wife) average is 41mpg for the last two tanks. Only changes are a kiwi mpg to monitor fuel (average verified by fillups at the same pump) and driving. I increased the tire pressure today to see how much that helps. (Up to 40 from30-35ish).

Also have a motorcycle, '85 nighthawk 700s. Don't really try with it, but it gets around 50mpg.

Last is a DIY e-bike. Its an old road bike converted to brushless (from rc plane) power and lithium batteries. Has a 10Ah, 30v pack. Needs a few finishing touches. It can be pedaled or motor driven at any time. Lcd screen on handlebars gives real time current, voltage, watts, etc while riding.

Looking forward to improving mpg and learning more. Feel free to ask questions about my current rides.

Welcome to the site.

Sounds like you're doing pretty good with the Corolla. Do you have any target as far as what you'd like to get with it?

My initial goal was 40. Haven't really thought past that. Without any major changes to the car, what more seems reasonable?

I will need new tires soon, are there any particular ones I should look for with low rolling resistance?

When it comes to further mods, I'd rather start with something that gets better mpg.

Welcome aboard. It looks like your driving technique is already netting you.great mileage.

Smooth wheel covers and grill blocks are two mods that will net you good gains and can be easy and cheap to make.
