45.72 mpg on stock honda!

Thank you sooo much for everyone and their information. The knowledge passed on from this forum is invaluable.

I have been skimming over the forums for a week or 2 now, and finally just broke down and bought a scanGauge.

Does anyone know how long it usually takes to get it, I got my receipt from paypal last Wednesday.

I do plan on modding my vehicle to reduce drag.

I would really like to put something out there that not only does the job, but looks decent.

I can't say I won't make a boattail or anything like that, but we all know its hideous (but beautiful in so many other ways )

I have thought of a boattail design, and also have looked at the kamback design.

I do not have a hatchback, but I am more partial to the kamback design. It would be ideal to try and build something detachable during city driving.

Currently any body modifications are on hold, I am currently learning to fiberglass, and believe I will be able to make a more quality part by doing it this way.

I have mapped out a lot of ideas for the civic, so anyone interested in reading about it, I have spent a few hours creating a google document located here....

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1...7soXpYQTs/edit

ALSO
when I first made my first gas log entry, I saw the image that everyone is using as their signature.

How do I put that as my signature?

I was just going to link the url for it, but I can't find my image.

I believe it said 51% over epa

Hi, your project seems to be plausible. Good ideas in general. Looking further for modifications, good luck for the 50+ MPG club!

Nice, huh?!

I'll agree with Old Tele Man (above). It certainly is possible. Long before ever ecomodding my 1998 Civic DX Coupe (exactly like your car), I once got 44 mpg across one whole tank by driving gingerly and only 55mph across a long freeway run. BTW, check out my car's page. Since we have the same car, maybe my mods will help you pick yours. I'm doing pretty well on the gas. And I have made mistakes I can help you avoid if you want to correspond. PM me. Good luck!

Black and Green will be rebuilt over decades as parts die--until it becomes a different car. Goal is only 60-70 mpg at posted speeds. I'm not trying for highest possible mileage.

Calculators: standard deviation, Ohms Law, & drag HP losses.
