Bens auto transmissions last forever but put the slush in box, nice starter transmission but it cuts your fuel economy in half.

Interesting. I am sure my mileage will be improved over the original inline 6 and 3spd.

As long as your gearing is right I am sure it will, but a MT is a world over the Auto.

Older Benz trannys slip so the gearing has to be such that you minimize that while keeping the motor in a happy RPM.

I've just read so much negative stuff about a manual trans on the turbo diesel... Not to mention trying to get a properly balanced fly wheel. My truck currently has 3.73 gears in the rear. I think the Benz had something in the low 3s.

Yes but the xmsn will always slip, low 3s might be OK under low load at low speed but in a truck 3.73's are likely fine, a low 3s with lots of XMSN slip wastes gas just as much as the wrong gearing.

Right. Hopefully the 3.73 will still allow me to get to 55mph without blowing up the engine!

Angry a fool and his money...

Are easily parted

I was scammed by William Roberts. 614-359-2283. Office @ 50 E long street, Columbus, OH. I admit I was foolish to so easily send money, but I was blinded with excitement to find the parts I needed. He was on Craigslist. Here I sit 3 weeks later out $400 and still no parts! Buyer beware, I learned the hard way. In almost 20 years of handshake deals, this is my first burn.

I hate that you were scammed. Have you contacted the police about this?
