Aero deflector

I bought the truck with this air deflector already on it and i was wondering if this helped the aerodynamics or if it will decrease my gas mileage?

It doesn't look like it's really an aero deflector as much as a rock deflector. I don't think it's going to help your mpg. Can you take it off and test a couple of tanks with it on and with it off?

It does not help for sure. On the other hand, I've never seen anyone quantify how much it hurts.

I think the point of those is to be a bug deflector to keep your windshield clean.

Looks too small to be a big deflector. I 2nd saunders1313 suggest of running it off on a couple of tanks and see if there is a difference.

I agree that it looks more like a rock deflector than a bug deflector. Guess they decided it looked better than a truck bra?

I have a Jeep Patriot and was thinking a deflector like this might help my areodynamics. If it is a "bug deflector" doesn't that keep the air from gathering on the windshield and keep it up and over the vehicle??

well whatever it is, take it off and put it under your bumper to deflect some more air around your undercarriage!
