I got an email the other day linking to this article. There is some really cool info in it. Its great to see the price drastically dropping and bigger facilities being built.

“We have achieved production rates of 50 tonnes a hectare (18.3 tons/acre) per year, about half of which is converted to oil,” he says in a statement. “These high production rates are expected to increase at the new pilot plant due to better climatic conditions in Karratha.”

“We have already dropped the cost from A$12 a liter ($45/gallon) down to A$3 a liter ($11.28/gallon) in the past year, but our aim is to (lower) it to less than $1 a liter ($3.75/gallon),” Borowitzka says.

Now if they would run these things off coal plumes they could get money from the coal plant, produce much more algae and not require a special climate..

I remember one of the algae oil places stating it could mass produce the oil for about $0.99 a gallon, looks like that went out the window
