Any advantage to a new microwave?

Tested my microwave (~10 years old) :
. idle : 3W
. at max power, 900W given back to food : 1550W
. "idle" after use, waiting for someone to push the stop button, light and
turning tray activated : 50W

Leaks are the only real way to justify a new microwave IMHO

I believe that total Consumption on a microwave is fairly minimal due to the short operation time, in fact I'd bet that most newer microwaves have higher fantom loads and will thus end up using more.

BUT A new Microwave is a very NICE thing in a materialistic stance.

We have 2 sharp carrousel 1.25 cuft microwaves in the family and they both work well, auto cook sensor works well on them as well; over cooks by about 15 seconds every time in my opinion, but overall pretty good appliance.
