anyone know a good source for carbon fiber?

I see that alot of people are using chloroplast...

has any one used sheets of carbon fiber, I'm thinking it would be pretty light, pretty durable, and would look better.

Surely there is some that is thin enough to be bendable to fit the contours of your vehicle as well.

USComposites.com has carbon fiber cloth, epoxy, bagging accessories, etc.

As for looks, I doubt you'll see it under body-colored paint...

I have seen somewhere pre-fabricated sheets of carbon fibre designed to be workable (i thought CFRP was a b-----d to cut?). Not designed to be structural, but better performing than ABS plastic. Now I see this I wish I saved the link. Some plastics suppliers and race engineering suppliers might be able to get you CFRP sheets.

I get it from a local fiberglass materials supply house in St. Petersburg, FL, call Fiberglass Coatings. That probably doesn't help you much. But I would think any place that deals strictly in supplying composite materials for your local industry would either carry it or at least be able to order it. If not, try a home built aircraft (such as Aircraft Spruce and Specialty) or boat builder supply house that is mail order. Aircraft Spruce definitely carried it the last time I looked.

I've never seen ridged sheets for sale, everything that I've seen was the fabric that you put resin on, putting carbon fiber on something like a sheet of cardboard will give you a light weight core to help make it ridged, otherwise forming it right to the shape that you would would be ideal.
As for where to get it, the stuff I've used at work came from Ebay, the epoxy came from Raka.com

for anyone interested in purchasing composite materials, I HIGHLY recommend
soller composites.

they've got amazing prices and customer service. been buying from them for about six years.

much less expensive than fiber glast, who's prices always seem quite high to me.
