Well, the "new" engine had already been swapped when this thread was posted, I think.

But the guy managed to get from Canada to Mexico on one tank, clocking in with 119.1 mpg (US).

Then there was the Mother Earth news 3VG which was a enclosed three wheel (two up front) leaning tandem 2 seater built in 1983. (I have a copy the report they prepared on that thing). It had a Onan 16 hp 2 cylinder 730 cc engine mated to a CCV tansmission. They modded the engine (which was for industrial pump and generator apps not fuel economy) and got up to 50 mpg
