Audi A3 diesel

I am kicking tires looking for a new vehicle. I noticed that Audi now sells the A3 diesel in the US. A few years ago I rented an A3 diesel in D-land and enjoyed driving it very much. I am wondering if this is a good car to own in the US.

Is there any difference with VW diesels? Is this a car that is easy to get service and parts for? Any reason to buy an Audi over a VW?

Same running gear as the VWs just a slightly more sporting feel. Built to the same standards including materials standards.
