It's easy to show a concept electric car, and I bet we'll see a lot of them at Frankfurt this week. Being able to do one EV conversion isn't a big deal for a carmaker. However, being able to bring an EV to market profitably requires waiting for affordable, dense batteries to arrive.

The most interesting thing here is the fact that it looks like an R8, rather an an A4 or a Lupo. So it's presumably fast, loaded with more Lithium batteries than a Tesla, and extremely expensive.

Well the Frankfurt show has opened and a few more details are now know about the e-Tron. The biggest one is torque this monster has: 3,319 ft/lbs!

That is more than the M1 Abrams tank! There are some tugboats that are envious...

That 0-60 time is slow for that amount of torque. I want to see the transmission.

Hi,

There are four electric motors -- one in each wheel; so, there is no transmission.

I agree. But 37-75 mph takes just 4.1 sec. Probably pulls like crazy through 200mph. Only 313 HP total.

I want to see one of these on the road! Or in a tractor pull...
