Autoenginuity scanner

At $400 plus your own Windows laptop, this is a pricy instrument. However, it appears to cover the 2001-03 and I understand 2004-09 Prius systems. For the 2010 Prius, it reads a 20+ list of standard OBD-II data fields that easily includes:
  • ICE rpm
  • mass flow
  • speed
  • accelerator position
  • barometric pressure - both manifold and absolute
  • coolant temperature
  • EGR status
sub-second sampling rates

It has multple dislays and runs fairly easily. Although not as small as a Graham or dedicated performance scanner, it provides great flexibility as well as diagnostic support for repairing faults. Compared to the $250 Sears brand, scanner, this is a very capable tool.

...hm-m-m-m, wonder when the SGII might get upgraded (again)?

...would be nice to have a streaming USB, pass-thru, data port so we could record directly to either a thumb drive or laptop computer.

autoenginuity 8.2

for the prius
you will need a tool at least as capable as AE just to bleed the brakes
a feature AE has which is not mentioned ,

in the in the system test menu for the ABS module
not the activation menu.

and
don't forget the free tag along SpeedTracer which can be used to provide real time fuel economy , among other things .

every thing is recordable as long as the hard drive has remaining space .

Scan gauge is generic OBD2 only ,
there are no enhanced features .
there really is no comparison between the two ,
like comparing roller skates to a new audi

I just picked mine up today!

Having used both Equus and the Sears models before, this is money well spent on the AE. You'll get a ton of usefull data that a typical code reader just doesn't read. I like its ability to record specific bahaviors that can be shared with others (helps, when you need expert advise). Anything they don't cover, I'm sure you could submit a request for...

Also, take a look at this. SpeedTracer Stage I

speed tracer version 5.o

the current speedtracer version is
5.o -
the screen caps shown are from 4.2 but in 5.o the upper limit has been raised in the FE screen to 80mpg

your version should have 5.o which was introduced around AE 8.1

That's interesting, AE 8.2.1 came with ST 4.2. Per their pressroom, ST 5.0 came out with AE 8.0. I'll give them a ring to see what I've missed.

[Revised]
I called and spoke to AE and it turns out that ST 4.2 is the latest/greatest version.

So, I'm guessing that they updated their news page before the decision was made to release it as an updated minor revision instead of a major version change? As I got off the phone with them, they were going to update their web page.

Here's a what looks to be a good tech link I came accross on PSN.

speed tracer version 5.o

with a 1996 geo metro 10g , driving at around 45 mph peak in traffic .
-------------------------------
for unknown reasons "they" must have switched back to version 4.2
i did identify a problem and show "them" when "they" first released 5.o ....

but
i have 5.o ,
see the "max" value on the FE scale and see the "about" screen cap showing 5.o .

i know "they" are almost always crazy busy working on the next release and this must be on the back burner for now ?
or choice c , i do not know

I haven't tried this yet myself on account of needing to get my variables entered. My guess is they use the same interface.

This would be a good feature request - ask them to come up with some sort of mirror driver that would allow sensor polling from more than one application.
