Glad to hear you passed inspection recently. Mine was fun once I figured out the correct legal hoops to jump through!

My inspection was also entertaining, but not nearly as much of a journey as yours. The station was only 3 miles from my house! Though I was afraid of failing because my entire engine compartment consists of temporary brackets and my vacuum pump, control box, tray, controller are all held in place with tie wraps.

I think my next step is finishing under the hood. A stronger motor mount, install the 1.5 HP motor for the Power Steering and A/C compressor, and get a nice aluminum plate to mount the control systems to.

Hey SGC, you ought to do a thread over here. You have a lot of pics and text already, which will transfer over without a lot of the work usually needed. Then we'd have another car with which to compare how well the different voltages and setups work!

< And now, back to Ben! >

I gave in an started a thread.

Ben- What gears are you using at what speeds? I am curious about your AMP draws at different speeds and gears.

Mostly been using 2nd and third gear.

I use 2nd up to 25 mph or so and then 3rd above that.

Here's a video made a while back testing acceleration in a couple different gears - no shifting - just put it in gear and go.

This was pretty much flooring it, meaning I was using all amps I had.

My controller is a 400 amp peak, but my ammeter only goes up to 300, and I've never really had a way to check how much I really can pull out of the controller or not.

For example, there is an adjustment (by screwdriver) in the controller to limit current. I don't even know for sure if that is all the way up or not.

I do know that the ammeter goes up a lot faster in a higher gear while accelerating than in a lower gear.

EDIT: Link won't work right - here's the video directly.
