For the amount of cargo a ship with that engine is carrying compared to the efficiency of a normal car carrying a very small amount of cargo it gets incredibly good mpg.

There used to be this mid 80s Chrysler K-car limo driving around here. Bet that got pretty decent mileage for a limo. But probably pretty low on luxury. It also had a big dent in one of the doors.
