MTB in drag

Hey, I wanna post mine too! Since this is my first post, I`m not sure if the forum will let me post pics, but I`ll try anyway.

This is my main bike- a 92 Schwinn Impact (mountain bike with a bunch of cyclocross and road bike parts) that I commute on year round and it does occasional grocery duty as well as weekend tours when the weather is nice. I`ve yet to get a perfect year of no driving to work, but it`s been pretty close for the past three years. So far I`ve driven in four times this year. Maybe next year will be the charm! My commute is only a little over 3 miles each way if I go straight from A to B, but I keep at it even when it`s down to zero F or snowing. Let`s see if my picture goes.

A headwind would suck on that bike too.

Whoohoo!

First snow since I got studded tires for my bike . I did ride them for a week or so on dry pavement to see how they felt- feel like I`m pulling a Winnebago and sound like frying bacon. They seemed to hold fairly well in the little bit of ice we had last week, but this morning really wasn`t much of a test. They definitely make less racket with a little snow under them, though.

Last year I made chains, which worked surprisingly well, but wore out WAY too fast. I was going to try again this year with heavier material, but I ran into a deal I couldn`t pass up on the stud muffins.

Actually, maybe the other way around: That bike would suck a headwind.

Varn - you have a Varna! Too cool for words.

I'm in a perpetual state of envy caused by photos of velomobiles and recumbent bikes & trikes.

As it is, I get around year round on this 37.5 lbs of awesomeness rescued from the garbage truck:

I put ~1000 km a year on this beater, in a town that's about 6 km wide. I've never locked it. (The fluorescent green spray job is apparently excellent theft deterrent.)

MetroMPG's "Pirate Bike"

I've also got a classic 1997 GT Karakoram hard tail that I use on the local cross-country trails. It's my "good" bike

This is my Catrike Trail recumbent trike. I've been riding this since Oct 16th, and it's now my primary commuter.

Nice, - I'd be worried about riding so low to the ground myself though.
