...our daughter (in Caliprunya) looked into Progressive and, apparently, it's basically based on (a) TIME-of-DAY that you drive, (b) how OFTEN/HARD you apply the BRAKES, and (c) maximum MPH you drive at. She (ah-hem) didn't qualify.

Yeah, I knew going in that I'd max out the discount, as I hardly drove at all, I always brake gently, almost never speed, am not driving around at bar closing, etc. The beauty of it is, once you've proven yourself, the little spy device goes away... do these other spy devices ever go away?

...NOT if you're alluding to GM's OnStar™ box, it's "on" even when the ignition key is "OFF" -- that's *how* they're able to remotely 'unlock' & 'start' the car for you.
