Welcome to the site. We have quite a few xB owners here. I'm sure they'll be glad to have another one around.

Welcome to EM! Practical, cool, and square, all at the same time. Do you drive mostly city or highway or 50/50?

My commute is 13 miles each way. 80% on the highway and 20% streets but on weekends this is the car the wife and I take to do errands so that flips to 20/80 split. The other detail is that in Miami you can't really ride without AC becoming either a wet sponge drenched in your own sweat or suffocating and dying. We have highways in this city but the problem is that they are SO horribly designed that it is usually bumper-to-bumper traffic.

Make sure to check out the 100+ hypermiling tips (link at the top of the page) first off. That is where you'll see your largest gains from.

Any possibility of altering your work hours to get around traffic? I did this and it has helped immensely.

Woohoo! My first victory! I FINALLY broke the EPA, not by much but I did it with basic cheap mods and just adjusting my driving style a bit.

When i first got my Box it was doing 26.18 then i changed the plugs and the airfilter and it bumped it to 28.55 and today when i did the new reading after just adding a can of STP engine cleaner, i clocked at 31.16!

Welcome! We can always use another box around here.

I find that with the AC, it helps to put it on recirculate, and turn the AC on and off just enough to be comfortable. Of course, I can get away with a lot less AC use than you can anyway, given the climate here.

@TELVM: The cD is .35, but I'm not sure about the frontal area. It's a small car (based on the Yaris/Echo mechanicals), and not terribly heavy. The aerodynamic compromises more than make up for the fact that it's an unbelievably roomy and practical car.
I know someone (I think Daox) has a chart of cD and frontal area for lots of cars, but I can't remember for the life of me how to find it.
