Haven't seen or tried.
What is everyone's opinion on putting drum brakes all the way around. I think it would save gas by having less resistance than disc brakes. Don't think drums will stop your car well before discs all they had were drums and there cars were heavier also most "hypermiliers" drive at reasonable speeds and are always thinking many steps ahead. I think it could work.

Not worth the hassle and the increased braking distance.
Failure to stop in due time - and it need not be your fault - will cost far, far more.

Would drum brakes really have less resistance than disk brakes with proper brake pad return springs ?
If so, why?

From my understanding disc brakes always touch just a little. Yeah disc brakes stop faster but I'm saying for people who drive slower than most and are always thinking ahead.

Just put oil all over your brake pads. It will have the same effect (both rolling resistance and stopping power) and will cost less.  |
