Bob Rice: What a guy!

Of the many interesting people I met at the Citicar gathering in Columbia, Maryland, few could tell a story like Bob Rice.

He could spin a yarn about his experiences with trains, electric cars, conversions, Citicars and more.

He recently had a very nice newspaper article done on him.

It's worth reading.

I know his name well from the EVDL. He's not short of opinions, generous to a fault, and you're right: he can sure tell a story!

I love this bit:

Rice doesn't draw the same sort of attention these days as he cruises around in his silent Jetta. Outwardly, no one can tell it runs on electricity. Heads do turn, though, when he honks his ah-ooga horn as he passes the gas station near his house. He installed the horn for just that purpose.

"Don't worry," he said. "They know me there. I'm the electric-car guy."
