Ford has had electrically defrosting windscreens for ages , as one of the sole manufacturers - using embedded hot wiring as at the rear, but much finer .
They work well, and I've always wondered why even safety conscious manufacturers like Volvo (even when on Ford's books) didn't use 'm.

They are visible, but you get used to the tiny wires quickly, and look beyond them.

With a bit of planning, they could make it possible to cut out the power to faulty wires, without degrading performance all that much.

I bought the book about two weeks ago, and find most of stuff in there, very interesting.

I would have loved to be at the GM wind tunnel when the Edison2 was run there! One, to witness the Cd of the Edison2, and two, to see the mechanics of the huge balance that measures drag. .160.

While at the wind tunnel, the Edison aero-engineer was making fine adjustments to the cooling inlet, which lowered Cd from 0.170 to 0.160.

I'm on my second pass of the book. Well worth a read.

Jim.
