Brand new microcompact for the US (Scion iQ)

Micro -subcompact concept Toyota iQ will be rebadged as the Scion iQ. It will be sold here in the States. A logical comparison or rival to the Smart, it will most likely be powered by a larger 1.3 L inline-4 instead of the JDM & European markets' 1.0 L inline-3 cylinder. Rough estimates at 100 hp -100 torque, with 60's mpg marks supposedly higher than the smaller 3 cylinder. Scion's version will be more aggressively styled compared to the Toyota's show concept vehicle. Exaggerated flares, flame-flare front fascia & unique show fitment wheels. Youth market pricing to start at $15 K. iQ hopefully to build loyal eco-cool niche along side Toyota's new gen eco-green Prius.

Tiny cars, I'd buy one if it was around 8 or 9K. Not worth the price tag they are likely to hit it with in the US.

Yes, I realize these aren't photos of the Scion this is the toyota, but are you kidding me... they have a rear seat?

Rear end collision, and that guy is a quadriplegic... or dead. With out a doubt.

That always drives me nuts about these tiny cars, way too expensive. What ever happened to the econobox model: small, crazy mileage, and cheap? At least this get's 2 out of 3 which is 1 better than the Smart.

Cute car, but I wouldn't drive it on the Jersey Turnpike.

What!? Its going to look like a transformer. . .I'm buying one.

^_^.

15K. . .thats more than the FIT. I would much rather be in the FIT in any collision than that thing. Well, maybe if I hit a pedestrian, but if he runs into me deal is off.

And yes I know FE is higher than the FIT, but FIT is way bigger and looks way more comfortable.

Subcompact for 10K and gets that mileage for just 2 people with more centimeters of paper sheet metal and empty space between me and the F150 tires please.

I think this is good news. I am always happy to have a new subcompact in north america.

I would take an iq over a smart.
