Broke my trip record.

I've been trying all summer to beat my trip home record mpg which was 54. Yesterday I finally managed to do so simply by taking another route. The trip home is 34 miles but it's an 1,500 ft. Elevation gain, most of which is in the last 4 miles. I've been thinking of inventing a big air bag to put on the back of your car so you can get pushed along. Or a bat hook to hook up to the vehicle in front of you. Has anyone else had this fantasy ?

Congrats! That's impressive for such an elevation gain. You must put a lot in the bank before you hit the steep section.

Fantasy mod: deployable mast & sails for some of those windy days.

Except it's almost certainly a headwind.

Dang! I broke my trip record by attaining 50,75mpg a few months ago. There's no elevation gain to speak of...so your achievement is very remarkable! Great job!

I'd love to hook onto a chairlift-like device. But the truck magnet appeals too...

Here's an electromagnet to feed your fantasy: McMaster-Carr.
